How We Started
Salz und Salz GmbH was founded with a simple frustration in mind — finding quality salt and dry goods at fair, transparent prices was harder than it should be. Too many middlemen, too little consistency, and suppliers who treated small and medium buyers as an afterthought.
We decided to build something different. Starting with salt — one of the oldest and most essential commodities in the world — we created a direct supply model that works for home kitchens and business buyers alike. No unnecessary steps in the chain, no inflated margins, no compromises on what goes into the bag.
Today we supply retail customers, restaurants, food producers, and wholesalers across Germany and Europe. The product range is growing, but the principle behind it has not changed — if we would not use it ourselves, we do not sell it.
How We Source
We work directly with producers wherever possible — cutting out the layers of intermediaries that add cost without adding value. Our salt products come from carefully selected coastal and mineral producers whose standards we have personally verified. Our rice range is sourced from established growing regions with traceable supply chains.
Before any product enters our range, we check it against our quality criteria — origin, processing method, packaging integrity, and consistency across batches. A product that passes once but fails the second time does not stay in our catalogue.
We are not the biggest supplier in our categories. But we aim to be the most reliable one our customers have worked with.
